7 Signs of an Unbalanced Life
Most of us want to live a balanced life. We understand that when our life is in balance, we are happier and more effective. But what does it mean to have a balanced life, and how do we know when things are out of balance? After all, it's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day and lose sight of what's important, but if you're feeling off-balance, there are usually some tell-tale signs and that may indicate that you need to make some changes. Pay attention to these signs — and more importantly, take action — to restore balance in your life.
Feeling depressed
Not seeing progress or growth can lead to negative self-talk. This negative self talk can lead to us feeling unhappy and depressed. This can lead to a downward spiral in which your lack of confidence causes you to make poor decisions, which then slows your progress even further.
While not pleasant to experience, depression can also serve as a good telltale sign that something is not progressing as much as we'd like it to. It's important to catch yourself when this happens and replace the negative talk with more positive statements. Focusing on your small victories can help keep you motivated and moving forward.
Feeling anxious
Anxiety is a mental health condition that is caused by worrying about future events that may never happen. People with anxiety often worry about things that are out of their control, and this can lead to feelings of stress, fear, and unease.
While it can be debilitating for some people, anxiety is a good tell-tale sign that you may be neglecting to plan for the future. This means that by changing the way you think, you can manage your anxiety symptoms and instead focus more on living in the present.
Lacking drive
There are times when it can be difficult to summon up the motivation to go anywhere or do anything, especially when you don't have a clear idea of what it is you're working towards. In moments like these, it's important to take a step back and evaluate your goals and figure out what might be blocking you from achieving them.
Oftentimes, the big picture can seem daunting and prevent us from taking any action at all. When this happens, try breaking your goals down into smaller steps that you can complete more easily. With a little bit of clarity and focus, getting up and going should become much easier.
Lacking focus
We've all been there. Feeling like we're stuck in a hamster wheel and don't know what we're busy for. We wake up, go to work, come home, and do it all over again the next day. Sometimes it feels like we're just going through the motions without any real sense of purpose. But it doesn't have to be this way!
You can break free from the chains of monotony and live a life you love. All you need is a little bit of courage and determination to see yourself through.
Weight gain
When you're feeling overwhelmed by stress, it can be tempting to reach for unhealthy foods as a way to find instant gratification. However, this can actually lead to weight gain and further stress in the long run, plus there are better ways to relieve stress and boost your mood without wrecking your diet, such as exercise.
Low sex drive
In essence, the purpose of sex is to procreate, so when you’re feeling depressed and out of balance, naturally speaking you are more likely to have a lower sex drive.
Substance abuse
When we don't see the progress we’re hoping for in their lives, we may turn to unhealthy habits like drugs, alcohol and food for relief.
While these substances may offer a momentary escape from reality, they ultimately only serve to exacerbate the problem. It's important to seek out healthy outlets for coping with frustration and disappointment, and to remember that progress is not always linear.
An unbalanced life is one without equilibrium. Everything becomes more difficult in this state: relationships, work, our physical health. In short, it's a nightmare. However, there’s always a way to regain a sense of clarity and restore balance in our lives so that we are more stable, confident, and feel empowered to act during challenging times.
At Fightclub Challenge, we’ve devoted the first block (two weeks) to Balance, whereby our Fighters not only learn how to develop a solid stance in the gym but also look at what affects Balance outside of the gym. The point of doing this is to actively look at the events that would otherwise dictate our future and instead address them head-on.
We are able to do more with less, preserving precious energy that is responsible for how far we can go in life and how many rounds we endure in the ring. For this reason, balance is at the epicentre of this program hence why we kickstart the first block of FCC with balance.
